A striking original oil painting by Swedish artist Vidar Bäckman, signed and dated 1963.

Rich in colour and texture, Forest captures the atmosphere of a dense woodland through expressive, heavily layered brushwork. Deep forest greens, midnight blues, mustard yellow and burnt orange come together in a composition that sits beautifully between landscape and abstraction.

Bold vertical forms suggest trees, while flashes of colour bring light and movement to the painting. The thickly applied paint gives the surface wonderful depth and character.

Newly framed in a simple dark wooden frame, this beautiful example of Scandinavian modernist art feels both distinctly mid-century and wonderfully contemporary.
